Our Strider™ Bike camp was a wonderful success this summer. We had 11 kids participate and each one was able to go home with a bike, pads and helmet!
The week long camp had kids start by working on balance and work on getting on/off their bikes. By the end of the week the kids were walking with their bikes and beginning to glide.
Balance is particularly difficult for individuals with Down syndrome, studies have shown less than 36% of teenagers with Down syndrome transfer from a tricycle to a bicycle. Through this camp we now have all kids learning to ride and have fun!
We have gotten messages of kids getting out and being able to ride with their siblings and other kids in the neighborhood! What awesome news! We even had siblings riding together at the camp.
We were so overjoyed to put on this camp and we are extremely happy with the results. Thank you, thank you, thank you to Camp Leader Cindy McGinnis and the 10 volunteers, Paul Hanes, the Bullock's, NM Veterinarians Outlet, and First Baptist Church for helping us make this camp a success!
